| SPITFIRE MK4 1300 1972 |
|

|
Second time we've sold this one.
Derek has really enjoyed spitfire ownership but a growing family and too many cars on the drive means it has to go so it's come to stay at JY Classics so a new owner can be found.
A joy to drive, handles great, overdrive gearbox and a nice interior with new moulded carpets and recovered seats.
Blaupunkt CD player.
Tax exempt too.
Not a show winner but solid floors & sills and a sound straight chassis.
Shiny too!

| SPITFIRE 1500 1981 |

|
One of the last spitfires, registered November 1981.
Currently owned by one of our very best customers who seems to own too many cars. He's keeping the TR6 and MX5 so the spitfire has drawn the short straw, shame really. I suggested selling the MX5 but at the end of the day it's not up to me.
Sound and straight chassis, good floors and sills.
Buckets seats that you'll either love or hate. Talk to us, we might be able to swap them out if required.
Drives very nicely, strong engine and gearbox. We replaced the differential unit and universal joints a couple of years ago together with copper brake pipes and cooling hoses. Full width radiator, sports air filters, new starter motor, battery, recent hood, unleaded reconditioned engine early 2006, waxstat conversion so the carburettors behave, halogen headlamp conversion so you can actually see where you are going at night, new leaf spring and rear shock absorbers, JVC cd player. And just when we thought we'd seen it all, here we have a spitfire with reversing sensors!
Plenty of service history with this car including the original bill of sale from South Gosforth Motors, Newcastle upon Tyne. Mileage appears genuine too at 69,000.
MOT'd and ready for re homing.
Keen to sell so we've been asked to price this particular spitfire accordingly so here you go...

I've been looking forward to getting this car in to sell.
Jim has owned this GT6 for 20 years. We really went to town on this car back in 2004, replacing the bonnet assembly, rear wings, doorskins, respray and a whole lot more at a total cost just shy of £10,000(Receipts included).
Since then, Jim has barely used the car and it's just sat in his garage feeling sorry for itself.
What a fantastic GT6. First time we've seen it in four years and an absolute pleasure to drive. Overdrive gearbox, excellent panel gaps courtesy of those fine fellows at JY Classics, good chassis, inviting interior.
Tax exempt, loads of service history, sensible price.
Come and get it...

| Spitfire 1500 1980 |
|

|
A very popular colour, British Racing
Green.
Registered 1st August 1980, one of the first "W"
regs!
This spitfire is ideal for someone who wants to experience
open top classic car motoring without having to sell their
grandmother to pay for it. Perhaps little untidy in places
(the car, not your grandmother), but excellent in all the
crucial areas for example floors and sills. The chassis is
also sound and straight which is essential.
Houndstooth seats look like they've been recently recovered
so the interior is looking pretty good. Looking round the
car it appears to be fairly standard apart from the roll bar,
so no loud exhaust to wake the dead then.
Runs and drives very well and handles great.
Comes with a years MOT, which is nice and a road test via
the cashpoint which, funnily enough, is an ideal place to
test the brakes. How convenient.

Another great car that we are reluctant
to see go but we can't keep them all.
A fantastic GT6 in sapphire blue on minilite alloy wheels
with overdrive gearbox.
Body off restored with a powder coated chassis and polybushed
suspension all round. Phoenix 6-3-1 full sports exhaust in
stainless steel sounds as good as it looks. SU carburettor
conversion with SU sports air filters, all set up on a rolling
road according to Nigel, the previous owner who incidentally
has crossed to the dark side and bought himself an MG. I do
hope Darth Vader allows Midgets on his Death Star or Nigel
will have to turn round and come all the way back again.
TSSC gas strut kit helps you open the bonnet and it's all
rather nice underneath. We recovered the seats in the original
velour a few months ago for Nigel with new foam bases and
squabs. Original style Philips radio with both long and medium
waves. The Motolita leather rim steering wheel with walnut
dashboard really do make the interior very inviting.
An absolute pleasure to drive. GT6s like this one don't grow
on trees you know so you'd better get a move on. Use the force,
or something.

Looking very attractive in sapphire
blue, a tax exempt MK4 with a 1500 engine giving you the best
of both worlds and yes, it's another one I've been borrowing!
Excellent engine with reconditioned HS4 SU carburettors, new
distributor, oil cooler, full width radiator, kenlowe electric
cooling fan. Hi torque starter motor, alloy rocker box cover.
Overdrive gearbox.
Good floors, sills and chassis.
New moulded carpet set, woodrim steering wheel. Late GT6 velour
seat covers so you won't stick to the vinyl in the summer.
An absolute pleasure to drive and the sports exhaust system
lets everyone know you're coming!
The money you save on the road tax will pay for the insurance
and there's no such thing as depreciation here...It's not
money spent, just money moved.

Fitted with a TSSC Power Plus Stage 2 unleaded 1500 engine
this one really flies. I should think so at nearly £2000...fully
gas flowed, polished & ported cylinder head, fast road
camshaft, but perfectly tractable at lower revs, nitride hardened
crankshaft, lightened and balanced flywheel and clutch. Balanced
pistons, crankshaft and con rods, duplex timing chain.
And there's more new goodies too. Are you ready? Here goes:
All new suspension front and rear including Spax adjustable
shock absorbers with ride height adjustment on the front (not
cheap!), uprated front road springs, new rear leaf spring,
new drive shafts, wheel bearings front & rear, universal
joints, reconditioned brake calipers, EBC green stuff brake
pads, cross drilled brake discs, new vertical links, stainless
steel braided brake hoses, aluminium steering rack mounts,
Bell stainless steel sports exhaust system including extractor
manifold, electronic ignition, heavy duty battery, new water
pump, Minilite alloy wheels with new tyres, new brake and
clutch master cylinders, stainless steel carburettor heat
sheild, alloy rocker box cover...add that lot up if you dare.
Excellent floors, sills and chassis. A few blemishes here
and there but nothing worth worrying about. Overdrive gearbox.
3 previous owners not including Max & Spencer who took
an instant liking to this Spitfire and jumped in.
12 months MOT and more new bits than Cher.
Drive it like you stole it.

Nice spitfire in vermillion red. We've
know this car for a couple of years, the previous owner having
spent nearly £3000 with us on it on various jobs for
example: recon radiator, timing chain & sprockets, new
driveshafts, universal joints, rear wheel bearings, recon
brake calipers, front wheel bearings, steering rack, track
rod ends, various welding repairs...hello...you still there.
Reconditioned engine only 27,000 miles ago, electric cooling
fan, stainless steel braided brake hoses, boot rack, clean
and tidy hood, car cover, so no panic if you don't have a
garage, recovered houndstooth seats, Bell stainless steel
exhaust "silencer" for annoying the neighbours,
audioline radio cassette player (the ipod of the future) and
it's even got an electric ariel with it's own switch on the
dash...what more could you ask for?
Comes with 12 months MOT, plenty of service history and photos
of previous restoration work.
